Why You Should Never Shop Without First Trying Free Makeup Samples

Today there are dozens of high-end cosmetics stores that give out free makeup samples to customers. These may be given away when you place an order or may be part of a promotional special, or it may just be their policy to allow customers to pick and choose a number of samples when visiting their store. It can be tempting to load up on these samples just so you have a stash of makeup at home, but consider a few important reasons why you should never shop for cosmetics without getting your free samples first!

  1. Testing your skin.

Have you ever worn a makeup or tried a perfume that just didn’t seem to agree with your skin? The makeup may seem blotchy or patchy or settles into your pores, or a perfume may feel irritating in every place where it is applied.

Your skin is unique to you and may have certain sensitivities to different ingredients in makeup, perfume, cleansers, moisturizers, and so forth. Even makeup brands that advertise as being hypoallergenic or all-natural will still typically use additives for color, scent, and preservation. These can irritate sensitive or dry skin. Because each brand is different and uses different ingredients, it’s vital to test the product on your skin before you invest in full-size bottles.

  1. Testing the product.

Even high-end makeup brands don’t always cover blemishes or give you the look they advertise, which is another reason to get as many free makeup samples as possible before you buy. You may find that a certain brand is oily or greasy or seems dry when applied and again, gives you a blotchy or patchy look. Some don’t offer the coverage you need or may seem to wear off too quickly.

Finding the right color of makeup for your skin tone can also be a challenge, and this too is a reason to get as many free makeup samples as you can. Your skin can change color as you age or as the seasons change, so the color and brand you’ve been using for months or years may not be the right choice now.

Using samples to test makeup on your skin before you buy is always a good idea especially for more expensive brands. You know you’ll get the look you want and that the makeup will not irritate your skin, making it a good investment!
